Dr. Nikhil Koushik, Board Certified Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychologist is the new Director of Psychological Services at Edcommodate.
Dr. Nikhil Koushik who obtained a PhD in clinical neuropsychology at the University of Windsor in 2008. Dr. Koushik’s PhD was followed by a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology at Alberta Children’s Hospital. Nikhil then obtained employment at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland OH where he served as the founding Director of the MetroHealth Autism Assessment Center (MAAC), a clinic aimed to serve autism assessment needs for under-served populations in inner-city Cleveland.
Dr. Koushik has received specialized clinical training in the assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) from the Child Studies Centre, Alberta Children’s Hospital, Calgary Alberta, and the University of Michigan Autism and Communication Disorders Center.
Dr. Koushik has also received clinical certifications in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Training from the Great Lakes FASD Regional Training Center University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Koushik has published research and presented locally and nationally at conferences in the areas of intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, classification issues in developmental disabilities, and autism spectrum disorders.
Today, Dr. Koushik is a staff psychologist in children’s outpatient mental health at Grand River Hospital. Dr. Koushik is also an adjunct assistant professor of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences in the Michael DeGroote School of Medicine. He is a psychologist in good standing with the Ontario College of Psychologists and has declared competencies in clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology across the lifespan. Dr. Koushik is also board certified in clinical child and adolescent psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology. This means that he has attained the highest possible competency in providing clinical psychology services to children and adolescents.
Dr. Nikhil Koushik states: “I am so pleased to serve as Director of psychological services at Edcommodate where I will oversee the provision of the highest quality psychoeducational services to all clients in Kitchener, Ontario . Our team at Edcommodate will be able to assist many individuals to rule out or diagnose ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Learning Difficulties such as Dyslexia and/or delays in thinking.”
The Edcommodate team will begin conducting psychoeducational assessments for students in elementary and secondary school, as well as accommodation assessments for College and University students as well as working professional. Assessments will take place in Kitchener, Ontario starting in April 2021.
