Debbie Callahan is a registered social worker in good standing with more than 18 years of experience. She completed her Master of Social Work at Memorial University in Newfoundland and has since worked in community and hospital settings.
Debbie enjoys working with both adults, children and adolescents who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, parenting, grief and loss. Her clients would describe her as compassionate, authentic and easy to talk to. Debbie has a passion for supporting parents in their parenting journey. She likes to come along side children and youth who are experiencing mental health concerns by using a variety of techniques such as cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focused, and person centered therapy.
Debbie has worked as a social worker in various child focused settings. She has worked in Child Development at a Children’s hospital working with parents and children experiencing concerns related to diagnoses such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, learning disabilities and other developmental diagnoses. She provided individual counselling and parenting groups and assisted in the diagnostic process for autism spectrum disorder.
Debbie has worked in mental health crisis services for both adults and children. She is currently a staff social worker providing clinical services to children and youth experiencing acute mental health crisis through Grand River Hospital’s Children’s Outpatient Mental Health. Debbie is excited to join Edcommodate with a desire to provide individual therapy for adults, children and adolescents, as well as parenting support.
